School Mission Statement
Learning is at the heart of all that we do and through high expectations and an innovative bilingual curriculum, we ensure that all children achieve, build resilience and develop creativity in a safe and stimulating environment.
School Vision
At Ysgol Awel y Mynydd, we believe in excellence and we want the very best future for every child. We want children to leave our school ready to overcome challenges, lead fulfilling lives and make a positive contribution to a modern, bilingual Wales.
School Houses
All children are placed into one of four houses:
Blodeuwedd (red)
Pryderi (green)
Gwydion (yellow)
Branwen (blue)
A house is a smaller group that children belong to alongside their class or year group and the house system is designed to support children’s personal development and sense of belonging. Our houses were named, and symbols were designed, through the running of a competition for all pupils during 2025/26. This was won by a year 5 pupil. The brief was to ensure that the houses convey our pride of our Welsh history and culture. Pupils take part in a range of house‑based activities, including sports days, sports competitions and cultural activities.
